Chivay’s Backroads

A friend came down to visit, so we headed south to Chivay. Near Chivay sits Colca Canyon -a canyon that is twice as deep as the Grand Canyon. We were planning to go to the official Colca Canyon area, but then we discovered some backroads that were just as interesting, a lot closer, and didn’t require a S/.70 pass.

Heading out!

Once I accidentally leaned into a cactus. It was really sharp.

  1. It is difficult for me to see in the picture but can I inquire as to what footwear the gentleman in the first picture is wearing? He clearly has a knack for style, elegance and flair. This is a man who has given careful consideration to his choice of shoes no doubt.

    • Phil, it is difficult to find travel companions who possess style, elegance, and flair. We are very fortunate to know Tad from New Zealand, who has all three of these highly important characteristics.
