Hi Tony – Thanks for the comment! My dad actually built this bin and I don’t think we have the plans any longer. He did say that, given the weight of the bin, it’s pretty hard to turn. Just an FYI in case you are looking to build something similar. Good luck with your bin! Would love to see photos of whatever you build 🙂
I’ve been looking on the internet for an easy to build wooden compost tumbler. And yours won the first prize.
It really looks cool, big and stable.
What are the sizes/ dimensions?
And how does the turn mechanism work: is there a metal Stick all the way through the barrel, or is it just attached on the sides of the barrel?
Hi Henk – Thanks for the interest! My dad actually built this bin and I don’t think we have the plans any longer. If I remember correctly, the turning mechanism is just on one side. My dad did say that, given the weight of the bin, it’s pretty hard to turn. If he were to build it again, he’d do it differently. Just an FYI in case you are looking to build something similar. You may want to stick with a lighter material. Good luck with your bin! Would love to see photos of whatever you build.
Thank you Katfranchino,
I will send you a photo when I have finished building it.
I already planned to use thinner material.
But that is more for economic reasons.
Prices are up here in the Netherlands.
I would love to get the specs and how to details on how to build this. I am a newbie, thanks
This looks amazing btw. Great job!!!
