A few months ago, I decided I was going to make a bed. After a lot of profanity, I completed something that, as long as you squinted hard, could sort of pass as a futon. I called it good and decided the frame could wait another day or week or two or three.
Eventually I found some pretty simple bed frame instructions and decided to give it a shot. I’m not sure if I’ve ever built anything before, so it was a learning experience. My basement and I got to be good friends in the many hours it took to build and un-build and re-build the frame.
This is a pretty embarrassing story. I spent the first thirty minutes laboriously pre-drilling, which seemed like an awfully long time. After some pretty intense debates with myself, mostly regarding pride, I slowly dragged myself up the stairs to ask Eleanor for advice. It turns out that drilling takes a bit longer when the drill’s in reverse. Lesson learned.
Well gracious! What a sturdy looking bed.
